Synopsis

ACT ONE

Latrine Mouldyward, the ugly and evil witch and her sneaky sidekick, Snitch the cat, tell the audience that they hate happiness and will do anything to make Pantoland a horrible and dreary place.

At that moment, the good fairy, The Spirit of Pantomime, interrupts them and explains that she is responsible for the happiness of Pantoland. Mouldy and Snitch exit as she introduces the audience to Pantoland.

The citizens of Pantoland sing a happy song (“I’ve Got a Feeling“) and then we meet Cinders (the Principal Girl), Simple Simon (the Comic), Mother Goosebottom (the Dame) and Conkers and Bonkers (the Comedy Duo).

Conkers and Bonkers fall into the Fountain of Happiness along with a random man and sing “It’s Raining Men”.

We then meet Prince Charming (the Principal Boy) and Mayor Whittington.

Both Prince Charming and Cinders privately find each other attractive (“If I Told You“).

In a quiet country lane, Cinders meets The Spirit of Pantomime but both are attacked by Mouldywart and Snitch with a frying pan! M&S then kidnap The Spirit and imprison her in their castle of doom.

Back in Pantoland’s market square, we meet various pantomime characters and suddenly experience a flash mob (“Time Warp“). After which, Mother and Simon have a weird parcel routine and then Cinders, Conkers and Bonkers join them.

Back in the country lane, Mouldy and Snitch sing “Another One Bites the Dust” and then get covered in filthy, stinking rubbish by Conkers and Bonkers and then get their own back by smashing custard pies into C&B’s faces! Nonetheless, our heroes hatch a plan to rescue The Spirit.

Finally, M&S invite the Mayor to dinner at their castle of doom.

At the Fairy Academy of Flibbertigibbet, the fairy children set up the classroom to “Golden” and then Mother is appointed as their teacher, Professor Fairy Liquid.

Simon, Cinders, the Prince, Conkers and Bonkers join in hilariously before we meet the Headmistress, the Fairy Grandmother (who was once the Fairy Godmother) and her assistant, Fairy Tail, who tell our heroes that they can find The Spirit in Moldywart’s castle of doom.

Finally, the fairy children sing “Revolting Children” and are then interrupted by Mouldywart and Snitch who cause chaos and capture Cinders, the Prince, Conkers and Bonkers.

ACT TWO

In her castle of doom, Mouldywart, Snitch and their zombie, skeleton and ghoul friends sing “Bad” before Mayor Whittington arrives for dinner.

The prisoners are produced – Cinders, the Prince, Conkers and Bonkers all chained together hilariously.

Conkers and Bonkers are then hypnotised by Mouldywart to poison the Fountain of Happiness.

In Mouldywart’s castle dungeons, Mother, Simon and the Prince are haunted and bothered by ghosts in the classic panto Ghost routine.

They are then joined by the Mayor, Cinders and an ailing Spirit of Pantomime. On hearing that Conkers and Bonkers are going to poison the Fountain, she asks to be taken there immediately.

Back at the Market Square, Conkers and Bonkers do actually poison the Fountain of Happiness and The Spirit of Pantomime dies!

The citizens revolt and attack Conkers and Bonkers (“I Predict a Riot“).

Finally, The Spirit is brought back to life by everyone, including the audience, saying that they believe in fairies.

Mouldywart and Snitch then become nice, and we are all happy again.

The Prince then proposes to Cinders and, after much urging from the audience, she accepts.

The audience then enjoy “12 Days of Christmas“, a sing-song with Conkers and Bonkers (“I Am the Music Man“) and, finally, the Royal Wedding.

The Company finish the show with a spirited performance of “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love”, followed by confetti cannons as usual. 🙂
