The Characters
Please read these character definitions and the accompanying audition pieces before deciding which role(s) you wish to audition for. You may audition for as many roles as you wish.

| PRINCE CHARMING | The Principal Boy He is involved in the full story but not as much as Cinders. I have always liked the tradition of the Principal Boy being played by a girl and so it is again this year. |

| CINDERS | The Principal Girl A bit of a cute ragamuffin, after all she only joint owns a cheap joke stall in the market with her mother and brother. But she is the mainstay of the show - the story revolves around her. |
| MOTHER GOOSEBOTTOM | The Dame Mother to Cinders and Simon. |
| SIMPLE SIMON | The 'Daft Laddie' Comic. Son of Mother Goosebottom and brother of Cinders. He is the audience's friend. |
| CONKERS | A silly sister - part of the Comedy Duo. |
| BONKERS | The other silly sister - part of the Comedy Duo. |
| LATRINE MOULDYWART | The Villain. Boooo!! An evil witch who wants Pantoland to be miserable. |
| SNITCH THE CAT | Mouldywart’s sneaky sidekick. She is under Mouldywart's power and does what she is told until near the end. |
| THE SPIRIT OF PANTOMIME | A good fairy who protects Pantoland. She is not be a traditional pantomime fairy in acres of tulle, rather a young, modern slightly punky fairy with light-up wings and elf ears. |
| MAYOR WHITTINGTON | A rather bewildered and befuddled older gentleman He used to be Dick Whittington but is now a late middle-aged Mayor. |
| FAIRY GRANDMOTHER | An elderly fairy. She used to be Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother but is now Headmistress of the Fairy Academy of Flibbertigibbet. She only appears in Scene 5. FAIRY GRANDMOTHER AUDITON PIECES |
| FAIRY TAIL | Fairy Grandmother's rather busy and officious assistant. She only appears in Scene 5. |
| A POSTIE | Comedy postwoman. She is only in one scene (pp25-29). |
| BRIEF CAMEOS FROM THE ENSEMBLE | HAS DIALOGUE IN SCHOOL SCENE (SCENE 5): Fairy Nuff, Fairy Good, Fairy Funny and The Voice of the Mirror (VO only) HAS THE ODD LINE OF DIALOGUE IN VARIOUS SCENES: Aladdin, Robin Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Pinocchio and the Easter Bunny. ONLY IN THE GHOST SCENE (SCENE 7) - NO DIALOGUE: Boo the Ghost and Woo the Ghost |
