Charity Hope Valentine

Polly Aston

The down-on-her-luck but happy-go-lucky cockeyed optimist who just wants to be loved. A kooky, mad cap and fun loving girl. Charity works as a dance hall taxi dancer and hostess at the Fandango Ballroom. She constantly dreams of finding true love.

Oscar Lindquist

Tim O’Shea

Nervous tax accountant. Highly organized by nervous individual, he suffers from claustrophobia. He meets Charity and their relationship develops in an elevator (lift). He has a sweet nature and a gentle touch.

Nickie

Valerie Carr

Dance hall taxi dancer and hostess at the Fandango Ballroom. Brassy New Yorker. Mother figure to the other dancers. Been around the block. One of Charity’s closest friends.

Helene

Kavitha Parameswaran

Dance hall taxi dancer and hostess at the Fandango Ballroom. Sultry and sassy. One of Charity’s closest friends.

Vittorio Vidal

Kevin King

A famous Italian movie star who has a way with the ladies. Suave and sophisticated, almost a James Bond character wearing a white tuxedo.

Herman

Dave Strike

Grizzled, sleazy, middle-aged authoritarian manager of the Fandango Ballroom. Charity’s boss. Nonetheless, he has a heart of gold.

Daddy Johann Sebastian Brubeck

Tyrone Haywood

A ‘groovy and hip cat’ who is the charismatic and enigmatic leader and preacher of the unorthodox hippie Rhythm of Life Church. Think Sammy Davis Jr., if Sammy was a flower child and loved acid. In fact, he played the part in the movie.

Ursula March

Diane Slater

Beautiful film star and hot-headed and jealous lover of Italian movie star, Vittorio Vidal. She has quite a flair for the dramatic. Must be a strong and versatile comedic actress and a good mover. Will double as several roles in Act 2.

Carmen

Amanda Scott

Dance hall taxi dancer and hostess at the Fandango Ballroom.

Suzanne

Shirley Sledge

Dance hall taxi dancer and hostess at the Fandango Ballroom.

Frenchy

Heike Heath

Dance hall taxi dancer and hostess at the Fandango Ballroom.

Betsy

Charlee Clutten

Dance hall taxi dancer and hostess at the Fandango Ballroom.

Rosie

Diane Slater

A young and pretty ‘new girl’ dance hall taxi dancer and hostess at the Fandango Ballroom. As Americans would say, ‘fresh off the bus’ and very innocent.

Two Assistants to Daddy Brubeck

Eddie Hinds
