I’m delighted to announce that I will be directing the hilarious musical Sister Act next year. I will be working again with the brilliant Epsom Light Opera Company (ELOC). It will be the eighth show I’ve directed for them.

Sister Act is a musical based on the hit 1992 film of the same name with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner, and additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane.

Sister Act opened in the West End at the London Palladium on June 2, 2009, following previews from May 7. A newly revised adaptation of the show opened on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre on April 20, 2011, after previews beginning March 24, 2011. Patina Miller, who originated the role of Deloris in the West End production, reprised the role on Broadway, making her Broadway debut. On 23 October 2019, it was announced that the musical will open from 29 July 2020 at the Hammersmith Apollo for 39 performances. Whoopi Goldberg will be starring as Deloris Van Cartier, with Jennifer Saunders in the role of Mother Superior.

Rehearsals will start in October 2020 and the show will be performed from Tuesday 20th – Saturday 24th April 2021 at the Epsom Playhouse..
